Historical Note |
The judges of the Civil Court exercised jurisdiction in civil matters in first and second instance. Three judges had to preside concurrently in each case. Each judge had to register all orders issued by the Government prior to sending them to the Justice of the Peace. In passing judgment, the judges of the Civil Court were immune from interference from the civil or military authorities and they were bound to be expeditious in proceedings and curtail any unnecessary expenses by advocates or litigants. |
